This screencast demonstrates the Conversant Commerce Gmail Add-on, which allows Shopify merchants to run their business and handle customer support requests directly within Gmail.

In this demo, we'll respond to a customer that has replied to the order confirmation email after making a purchase on a Shopify store.

The customer asks to remove an item from the order. This is a fairly normal request which we can handle easily enough within the Shopify app. But it can be fairly tedious, and error-prone, to make note of the order number, switch to the Shopify app, look up the order and then make the requested change.

With the Conversant Commerce add-on installed, we can make these changes directly within Gmail.

Based on the email you’re viewing, Conversant Commerce automatically looks up the relevant order and customer. That’s the magic. We didn’t have to do anything, aside from open an email, and all the context we need is right in front of our eyes.

If we need additional information, we can click on the Customer to see their contact information, address and previous orders.

In this case, we click on the order and we see the financial and fulfillment status of the order and a list of line items.

The customer has asked us to remove an item from the order because they ordered one too many. Since payment has already been captured, we need to refund the item.

Now we choose the quantity of line items to refund and whether to restock items. We can also choose whether the customer should be notified of the refund. We can even leave a note to reference at a later date.

Clicking on the next button, we’re shown a summary of the refund. If everything looks good, we click the refund button and we’re done.

We’ve addressed a common customer request in record time.

In this scenario, we’ll respond to a customer that has a subscription and has replied to a Stripe invoice email.

The customer asks to cancel their subscription. This is a fairly normal request which we can handle easily enough within the Stripe app. But it can be fairly tedious, and error-prone, to make note of the subscription details, switch to the Stripe app, look up the subscription and then make the requested change.

With the Conversant Commerce add-on installed, we can make these changes directly within Gmail.

Based on the email you’re viewing, Conversant Commerce automatically looks up the relevant information. That’s the magic. We didn’t have to do anything, aside from open an email, and all the context we need is right in front of our eyes.

We can click on the invoice to see the invoice details. Here, we can mark the invoice as paid, close the invoice or take a few other actions.

But in this case, the customer has asked us to cancel the entire subscription, so we’ll go back to the Customer and click on the Subscription.

Now we just need to click “Cancel Subscription” and decide whether it should cancel immediately or at the end of the current period.

Click CONFIRM and we’re done.
